ANCR Construction Excellence Award for Lavarack Barracks

Thiess’ Lavarack Barracks project has been chosen as one of the Australian National Construction Major Project Review (ANCR) Construction Excellence 2011 Award winners.

The award recognises Thiess’ excellence and achievements in major construction and recognises the Lavarack Barracks project as one of the best examples of major construction featured in the ANCR.

The project combined adaptive reuse and refurbishment of existing facilities and infrastructure, and construction of new buildings including:

• Office accommodation, amenity and storage areas
• Logistical, medical and training facilities
• Plant and vehicle workshops and transport compounds, and
• Roads and services infrastructure and landscaping.

Approximately 80 buildings, totalling some 60,000m2 in floor area, were built.
