Schedule of Rates for coal loaded on barge
June 2000 to End of Mine
In 2000, Thiess Indonesia secured the long-term operational contract for the Satui Coal Mine in South Kalimantan with client PT Arutmin. In 2003, the alliance was extended for the life of the mine.
As the sole contractor responsible for mine operations, the total mine services include mine planning, clearing vegetation, stripping topsoil, mining and waste disposal. The contract includes environmental rehabilitation and controls across the site. The works also cover coal preparation, crushing and transportation and loading onto barge.
Mining operations cover a bituminous coal formation across 35 kilometres of strike and a similar sub-bituminous formation at the adjacent Mulia Mine. The total workforce, including administration, mining operations and maintenance personnel, is more than 1700. A further 750 subcontract personnel are also engaged on site.
Thiess Indonesia’s current annual coal production on site is 10MT per annum from 64 million bank cubic metres (BCM) of overburden.
